On April 24, 2025, the Québec government announced a $6 million investment to support work-study training programs in the construction sector, in collaboration with the Comité des partenaires du marchés du travail and the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ).
A project that promises to increase the number of people trained on construction sites
This two-year pilot project will enable the CCQ to submit short-term work-study training projects leading to vocational studies diplomas.
As Audrey Murray, CEO of the CCQ, observes, “Given a historic order book, we must be able to count on sufficient numbers of well-trained workers to build Québec. The support provided by the Commission des partenaires du marché du travail and the Ministère de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale to the Commission de la construction du Québec to conduct this pilot project will enable tradespeople to earn a vocational studies diploma who might otherwise have obtained a competency certificate without holding a diploma.”
