Different incentives have been created for workers in the construction industry:
- To encourage them to participate in upgrading activities
- To help workers with a training requirement
- To encourage workers to complete their apprenticeship in a trade designated “Red Seal”
Eligible workers may take advantage of financial support offered by the Fonds de formation des salariés de l’industrie de la construction.
Insurance hours reserve
Both training funds deposit hours into the insurance reserve of the person participating in one or more training courses totalling more than 25 hours per week. Thirty hours per week of training taken will automatically be deposited into this reserve. The reserve is used to determine the insurance plan (MÉDIC Construction).
Credit for apprenticeship hours
If the training activity that you have passed gives you the right to apprenticeship hour credits, they will automatically be placed in reserve in your apprenticeship record book in the final period. However, if you would like to advance the use of these credits to earlier in your apprenticeship, you must contact Customer Services at 1 888 842-8282.
Program for in-company training of women
Funded entirely by the Fonds de formation des salariés de l’industrie de la construction (FFSIC), this program is an expression of the desire of the partners in the construction industry to support women who have recently entered the industry with apprenticing in their trade or learning their occupation.
