Different incentives have been created for workers in the construction industry:
- To encourage them to participate in upgrading activities
- To help workers with a training requirement
- To encourage workers to complete their apprenticeship in a trade designated “Red Seal”
Financial support
Eligible workers may take advantage of financial support offered by the Fonds de formation des salariés de l’industrie de la construction.

Insurance hours reserve
Both training funds deposit hours into the insurance reserve of the person participating in one or more training courses totalling 25 hours and more per week. Thirty hours per week of training taken will automatically be deposited into this reserve. The reserve is used to determine the insurance plan (MÉDIC Construction). Full attendance, for each day or evening of training, is required to have the right to the reserve.
Training credit
A training credit may also be added to the apprenticeship record book of apprentices who pass a training activity.
If the training activity that you have passed gives you the right to a training credits, it will be automatically placed in reserve in the final period of your apprenticeship record book. However, if you would like to advance the use of this credit to earlier in your apprenticeship, you must contact Customer Services at 1 888 842-8282.
Program for in-company training of women
Funded entirely by the Fonds de formation des salariés de l’industrie de la construction (FFSIC), this program is an expression of the desire of the partners in the construction industry to support women who have recently entered the industry with apprenticing in their trade or learning their occupation. Emploi-Québec
An agreement between the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) and Emploi-Québec provides for the possibility of additional financial support during a training course.
SIA and SAFA
Human Resources and Skills Development Canada ( HRSDC ) offers the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) and the Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG). These grants are aimed at encouraging apprentices to complete their training and apprenticeship in a trade designated “Red Seal.”
