Millwright Examination
The examination is 3 hours long. It contains 61 questions and each question is worth 1 point. The required passing grade is 60%. The materials for your use during the examination are provided to you. They are: a pencil, a paper sheet, a calculator and an eraser. No other material or reference document is allowed during the examination.

Section 1 - Basic work (30%)
- Rigging and handling equipment and machinery
- Taking necessary safety measurements when lifting and handling
- Planning the rigging or handling of equipment or machinery
- Attaching, lifting and moving a load
- Working at a height
- Detecting risks involved in working at a height
- Adequately using equipment for working at a height
- Making necessary parts and accessories for the work
- Using a welding, oxy-acetylene cutting and plasma arc cutting techniques
- Manually machining a part
Section 2 - Installation and modification of industrial machinery (30%)
- Preparing machinery installation
- Interpreting installation plans and technical documents
- Laying out the machinery
- Preparing and securing the base that will receive the machinery
- Putting machinery in place
- Positioning machinery
- Connecting machinery and accessories
- Preparing machinery start up
- Making verifications before start up
- Performing vacuum tests
- Performing preoperational tests
- Making start up adjustments
Section 3 - Maintenance and repair of industrial machinery (40%)
- Planning maintenance or repair operations
- Interpreting plans and documentation for maintaining machinery
- Taking safety measures for doing maintenance and repairs
- Inspecting machinery
- Inspecting the general condition of production machinery when in operation or off
- Maintaining or repairing machinery
- Using various measuring instruments
- Dismantling equipment and machinery
- Offering a diagnosis
- Making a repair
